Important Dates for the 2024-2025 School Year
August 1, 2, and 5, 2024 – In-Service Days for Teachers
Teachers kick off the new school year with in-service days, where they participate in training sessions focused on best practices, curriculum updates, and instructional strategies. This time allows teachers to prepare for a successful start to the academic year.
August 6-9, 2024 – Teacher Work Days
During this week, teachers set up classrooms, finalize lesson plans, and coordinate with colleagues to ensure everything is ready for the arrival of students. These workdays are essential for creating an organized, engaging learning environment.
August 12, 2024 – First Day of School for Students; Start of First Semester
The first day of school marks the beginning of an exciting new year for Jackson County students. It’s a day filled with introductions, setting expectations, and beginning the journey of learning for the year.
September 2, 2024 – Labor Day (No School)
Schools and district offices are closed in observance of Labor Day, providing a brief break for students and staff early in the semester.
October 7-11, 2024 – FTE Week
FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) Week is when student attendance is recorded for state funding purposes. Families are encouraged to ensure students attend school to help the district secure important resources.
October 11, 2024 – End of First Grading Period

January 3, 2025 – In-Service Day
